# FAQ and more Below you can see the most frequently asked or the most important hints when using Tempy. ### How to invite Tempy correctly? Please make sure that when you invite Tempy, you leave the permissions Tempy requires untouched. As a rule, Tempy asks for administrator permissions in addition to the necessary permissions. It is best to leave this permission enabled as well, since role permissions can be overridden by channel permissions, it could be that one of Tempy's important permissions will be overwritten this way. ### Why does it say "..." at the end of my channel name? This happens when you have a channel name that is too long. Tempy recognizes since version 2.0 too long channel names and shortens them with three dots at the end. ### **Why is my channel bitrate lower than I configured?** This happens when the bitrate you have stored is higher than what your server allows according to its boost level. We fully understand how annoying it can be to have to vote so many times for Tempy to be able to use commands. But exactly this for many annoying restriction is for us the most important way to reach many people with our project. We hope that you can understand this somehow. To make the restriction at least fairer we have done the following: * We have developed vote tiers, the more often you vote the less often you have to wait for certain commands, by advancing a tier the time how long a vote is valid increases by 6 hours (Example: you have voted over 40 times, so you only have to vote every 24 hours).

Start the Tempy Setup As far as you didn't set a custom prefix you can use `-setup` to start the Tempy setup. The option of choosing an own creation channel AND the option of letting Tempy to create a creation channel are both disabled if you reached the maximum of creation channels, this channel maximum is at **three voice channels**, please [remove](https://docs.tempybot.me/getting-started-with-tempy/setup/voice-channel) one creation channel to setup a new one. The same is for removing a channel. The third reaction won't appear if you didn't setup any channel. ## Why is Tempy not creating a Text channel after joining the Creation? Should Tempy has not every single needed permission no Text channels will be created, Tempy will use the category (where Text channels should normally being created) and the role permissions, should a permission be missing the Text channel creation will be skipped. You can see which permissions Tempy needs for a successful Text channel creation by clicking [**here**](https://docs.tempybot.me/permissions#needed-permissions-for-textchannel-creation).\ This check has been added with the Tempy Version 1.0.3, see other changes [here](https://docs.tempybot.me/changelog#tempy-version-1-0-3). ## Why is Tempy not creating a Channel after joining the Creation? We are **blocking** every voice-action when Tempy is **missing only one** permission.\ We want to avoid useless errors - that's why Tempy will compare it's needed permissions and the\ permissions it got. Doublecheck the bot-permissions and the channel-permissions for every new created channel.\ Tempy needs enough permissions to delete or even create voice-channels & text-channels.\ If it's still not working, add the administration permissions to the Tempy bot role. # Vote-Only Locked What is vote-only locked and what do I have to do to use commands that are decalred as vote-only and more importantly - why do I have to do that at all? ## Why exactly do we have to vote now? We can understand that it's a bit surprising now that you have to vote for certain commands instead of just being able to use them as before. However, we have no income with Tempy and have to pay the costs for the server, domains and especially the advertising, for months. With vote-only commands, at least the costs for advertising can be reduced, since you are displayed higher on botlists with many votes. {% hint style="info" %} Since the Tempy version 1.1.0 some commands are locked and only usable by voting. {% endhint %} ## Are all commands only usable by voting now? No. All config commands, all start commands and all info commands can be used without voting for Tempy. You can also see your saved session settings (-session) without voting for Tempy. Every other command requires you to vote for Tempy, every 12 hours. ## On which site do we have to vote? The biggest Discord botlist is Top.gg, you've surely heard of it as most of Tempy's servers come through this botlist. This website offers bots, as well as servers to be listed there. Please keep in mind that the ads that are placed before voting are from Top.gg's advertisers. We make revenue through votes, for the first 100 votes we are credited with 15 credits, we can't pay them out in real money, we can only use them for advertising on the botlist. For each additional vote after the first 100 we will be credited exactly 0.001 credits. ## After voting, can I use the commands as before again? If your vote was successful you will be able to use all commands of Tempy without any limitation, for over 12 hours, if your vote expired and you are able to vote again you'll see that if you try to run a command that's part of the vote-only limitation. How do I use them and with which commands can I use them at all? ## What is a Tempy user tag? A Tempy user tag can be defined using a command e.g. the configname command does support user tags, later then e.g. after creating a Tempy voice channel this user tag will be changed into the real name of the user. A Tempy session is a database entry that Tempy creates with all the settings you have made on your Tempy channel. When you create a new Tempy channel, Tempy remembers your settings and applies them to the new channel. So you never have to set up Tempy channels again. ## How can I create a Tempy Session? As soon as you're in your Tempy channel you send the command **`-session save`** into any channel of the server, all settings will be saved and taken over *immediately* when creating a new Tempy channel. ## How can I see my Tempy Session? As soon as you created a Tempy session you send the command **`-session`** and all in the Tempy Session saved settings/overwrites will be shown in an embed. If there's no Tempy Session you'll see a note. ## How can I update the Tempy Session? You made changes to your Tempy channel and want the changes to be applied into your Tempy Session? Easily use the command **`-session update`** again and the settings will be overwritten in our database.\ You can also use the regular "save" subcommand, both will do the same in this case. ## How can I delete the Tempy Session? You can reset all changes by using **`-session reset`**, creating a new Tempy channel will no longer take the setting of your before created Tempy session. Note that the pre-defined settings of the server you are in may be still applied to your Tempy channel. ## How can I learn more about Tempy Session? YouTube Together is similar to Watch 2 Gether, only in Discord! This feature is currently still in the BETA of Discord and can therefore only be used by very few people. However, Tempy offers anyone using Discord on the desktop to watch YouTube videos with their friends via YouTube Together. ## How do I start YouTube Together? You can start YouTube Together with the command **`-youtube`** or **`-youtubetogether`**.\ Note that you can also mention Tempy, if you forgot your prefix check [this](https://docs.tempybot.me/commands/the-prefix). ## How does YouTube Together look after started? It looks pretty similiar as watch2gether, but fully implemented in Discord, the control possibilities you know from watch2gether are even better built in into YouTube Together. No. You get exclusive access to YouTube Together with Tempy, but please note that this is only available in Voice channel that are registered in Tempy's Voice-channel database (Tempy Voice channels). ## How to join the created YouTube Together session? After using the above mentioned command you will receive a link, once embedded and once sent as a single link/invitation. You have to use the link for joining the YouTube Together session. Please note that YouTube Together is only for desktop users, thus users on mobile can't use this for now. ## Who can use this feature in a Tempy channel? Everybody. All members in a Tempy channel can run the command and thus join the YouTube Together session, everybody can also manage the videos and the playlist in YouTube Together as well.\ If you don't want that you have to [block the user](https://docs.tempybot.me/experience/block) from your Tempy channel. # How to create a join request to someone Here you will be shown how you can ask someone for an channel invitation. **You want to join a Tempy channel of someone?
